Barrister Ikomi Ngongi is a longtime martial arts enthusiast and practitioner, and a holder of a black belt rank in Karatedo. He is very passionate about sports in general and swimming, in particular. He is also a music enthusiast and plays the guitar. Barr Ngongi has practiced as an international comparative and development lawyer for about 44 years. He is a former United Nations diplomat, a Senior Legal Expert and a General Manager of international development programs in Asia and Africa.

He is a graduate of University of Lagos Faculty of Law, the Nigeria Law School, the University of Brussels Law School and the Harvard University Law School.Barr Ngongi is a Former visiting professor of International Economic Law, at the University of Puerto Rico Law School, and an Adjunct Professor at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, as well as at the Graduate School- International Community Economic Development of the Southern New Hampshire University, and at the University of New Hampshire (Department of Political Science). He is an environmentalist and a farmer, with an emphasis on medicinal, timber and fruit trees farming.

He is a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Cameroon, and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association since 1979. He currently serves as Chairman of The Fako Land Trust, and Secretary General of The Bakweri Lands Claim Committee; both organizations in Cameroon, are dedicated to, and engaged in, the struggle to reclaim, assert, enforce and protect Indigenous Land Rights of minorities in Africa. He is a father to five adult children and a grandfather.
