Dr Abimbola-Okuneye, ‘Wunmi Anthonia

Dr Abimbola-Okuneye, ‘Wunmi Anthonia, an Environmental and Public Health Parasitologist. She studied Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology/Virology Option) from University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB now FUNAAB), B.Sc. Environmental Science from National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), M.Sc in Medical Microbiology & Parasitology and Ph.D in Parasitology both from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye. She is a thoroughbred and seasoned Academic Scientist with several local and international professional trainings and certifications. She is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT). She is a past Chairman of National Association of Academic Technologist (OOU branch), making her the first female Staff Union Chairman in Ogun State. She was a Chief Academic Scientist in the Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology, OOU before her current appointment as a Director in the Directorate of Technologists and Technical staff (DITTECS) in FUNAAB. She is a member of many academic and professional bodies chiefly; Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT), Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (PPSN), Science Association of Nigeria (SAN), Zoological Society of Nigeria (ZSN) and currently the Ogun state Chairman of Association of Science Laboratory Technologists/Scientist of Nigeria (ASLTON). She has attended over 25 conferences and workshops both locally and internationally. Her research interest spans through epidemiology, environmental and public health parasitology and microbiology as it impacts health and wellness. She has over twenty scientific research publications in reputable local and international learned journals. She is a member of Dr. Jack’s Wellness Centre, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria where she is committed to health and wellness and other community engagements beneficial to humanity without borders.
